A
man has been arrested with 104 bags and 2 drums of Indian hemp. Edet Okon, the suspect,
was apprehended by the Cross River police command, at Ikot-Nkese in the Bakassi
LGA of the state.
While
being paraded at the headquarters of the state Police Command in Calabar on
Friday, December 12, Okon claimed that he was not the owner of the seized
marijuana, adding that he did not know anything about it.
The
state Police spokesperson, Mr. Hogan Bassey, stated that the suspect was
arrested in his house around 5 am last Wednesday following a tip-off.
He
said, “We acted based on information. The 104 bags and two drums (100 and 200
litre drums), were stocked in his house when we got there around 5 am. He was
arrested immediately and brought to the command headquarters.”
