International Day of Persons with
Disabilities
The Theme
for 2014 edition is Sustainable Development: The Promise of Technology
The annual observance of
the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United
Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to
promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the
dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
National
Roof Over Your Head Day was created as a day to be thankful for what you have,
starting with the roof over your head.
There are many things that we have that we take for granted and do not
stop to appreciate how fortunate we are for having them.
Rockefeller
Center Christmas Tree lightening
Since the
Great Depression, the Rockefeller Center Tree has been the epicenter of
Christmas in New York City and a symbol of the holidays around the world, with
hundreds of thousands of visitors passing by each day while the tree is on
display.
Special
kids Day
Started
in 1990, Special Kids Day began as a holiday event for children with special
needs and their families to visit Santa Claus without obstacles.
Today,
Special Kids Day has evolved into a not-for-profit, 501(c)-(3) organization
dedicated to providing celebratory events for children with disabilities and
their families in environments designed to accommodate their special needs.
